William Smith College sophomore
Kathryn Gillan was named the Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week this afternoon, after she led the Heron lacrosse team to a 1-1 record last week. William Smith defeated Vassar 15-13 but fell to Rensselear 9-8 in double overtime.
A midfielder, Gillan tallied two goals, nine ground balls, and five draw controls on the week. She collected five ground balls and three draws vs. the Brewers, and recorded two goals, four ground balls and two draws against the Engineers. This is the first time Gillan has won a weekly award this spring.
Gillan has picked up a team-high 20 ground balls. She ranks third on the team in both points (17) and draw controls (15), and is fourth in goals (13).
William Smith (4-3, 1-1) will be back in action on April 9, when the Herons host Clarkson (5-2, 0-1) for a Liberty League contest at 4 p.m. Fans unable to make it to McCooey Field can watch the game online with
