GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart cross country team earned a first place finish in the seven-team field today at the Hobart Invitational. First-year
Josh Kirkman led the Statesmen finishing fifth of 60 runners.
Kirkman crossed the finish line of the 8-kilometer course in 30 minutes, 2 seconds. He finished just three seconds behind the fourth place finisher from SUNY Morrisville. First-year
Nick Schmidt took seventh place with a time of 30:22.
Senior
Evan Turner was the next Statesmen to finish, claiming 12th in 30:41. Right behind him were sophomore
Brit Claridge and junior
Shaun Viguerie, who took 13th and 14th, respectively. Hobart recorded a total of 51 points for the win. SUNY ESF took second with 77 team points, and SUNY Morrisville finished third with 94 points.
The Statesmen will next compete at the Houghton Invitational on Sept. 25 at 3:45 p.m.
