Statesmen take on Lions in NCAA first round on Saturday

The Hobart College soccer team will take on Penn State Behrend in Oneonta, N.Y., in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for students, senior citizens, military personnel, and $2 for children 3-12.  Fans unable to make it to Red Dragon Soccer Field can follow the action online with Live Stats and Live Video. The NCAA tournament digital program can also be viewed here.

Oneonta will face Baldwin Wallace in another first round match at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of each first round match will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Statesmen received an at-large bid into the 61-team field. Hobart (16-3-0) will be making its sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Senior Tommy Hayes leads Hobart with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Senior Tony Yeboah is right behind him with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Junior Alex Kittelberger and sophomore Kaeghan Kelly share the team lead with four assists. Senior Charlie Hale is sporting a 0.81 goals against average and a .818 save percentage this season. He has earned six shutouts.

The Lions earned an automatic bid, defeating No. 25 Medaille 1-0 to win the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament. Penn State Behrend enters the tournament with a 12-6-1 overall record, riding an eight-game win streak. Jake Gamble leads the team with 34 points on 15 goals and four assists.  Garrett Fiscus has earned a team-high nine assists. Chris Bolea has seen the majority of minutes in goal and is sporting a 1.54 goals against average and a .667 save percentage.

Hobart and Penn State Behrend have never met in men's soccer.
