The William Smith basketball team made eight 3-pointers and more free throws than Clarkson attempted as the Herons scored a 67-59 Liberty League victory tonight. Senior guard Mollie Danahy led three William Smith players in double figures with 15 points.

Both teams struggled to find thier shooting touch in the first half, as only Scanlon and Kush seemed to have any success. Scanlon shot 4-for-6, while the rest of the Knights were just 4-for-24, while Kush went 5-for-6, and the remainder of the Herons were 5-for-26. Clarkson jumped out to a 7-2 lead, but the Herons responded with a 12-2 run and never let go of the lead for the remainder of the contest.

In the second half, both teams figured it out offensively, making shots at a near 50 percent clip. However, it was William Smith's perimeter shooting that won the game, as the Herons went 6-for-12 from beyond the 3-point arc to close out the game.

William Smith will be back in actoin on Saturday, Feb. 12, when the Herons visit St. Lawrence (17-4, 8-3). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
