Hobart blanks St. John Fisher

GENEVA, N.Y.—
The Statesmen tennis team swept visiting St. John Fisher, 9-0 in a match played this afternoon in Bristol Field House. Hobart is now 7-9 overall, and the Cardinals fall to 4-12.

Sophomore Bruce Grant led Hobart with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top singles spot. He also paired with sophomore Alex James for an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. Junior Matt Hursh defeated St. John Fisher's Joseph Aquino 6-1, 6-0, and teamed up with senior Matt Chin for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 singles, sophomore Sam DeLuccia topped Howard VanBuren 6-2, 6-2. DeLuccia and junior Kevin Bates cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Junior Walter Green registered a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles. Chin edged Daniel Parshall 6-0, 3-6, 10-2 at the No. 5 spot, and sophomore Peter Cruice secured the sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Statesmen will be back on the courts when they travel to Ithaca on Tuesday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
