The William Smith basketball team will host Union for its first Liberty League game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. in Bristol Gym.
Beginning with Tuesday's game, the Heron Society will be providing a shuttle bus at William Smith home basketball games for the remainder of the season. The shuttle will pick up fans from Medbery parking lot and drop them off at the back of Bristol Gym. It will run 30 minutes prior to each game and 30 minutes after the game has finished.
The Herons enter league play with a 4-5 overall record. Sophomore
Liz Douglass leads the team and ranks ninth in the Liberty League in scoring (12.1 ppg). She also ranks second in the conference with a team best 26 steals. Senior
Sydni Salvatore is second on the team producing 10.7 ppg and 15 steals. Junior
Jaimie Rubin ranks second in the league and leads the Herons dishing out 4.9 assists per game, and sophomore
Jacqueline Murphy sits atop the conference bringing down a team-high 12.0 rebounds per contest. The Herons are tied for 16th in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (7.6).
The Dutchwomen come to Geneva with a 4-6 overall record and an 0-2 mark in Liberty League play. Union opened conference play on Jan. 6 and 7 with losses to St. Lawrence and Vassar, respectively. Shayla Madden is the Dutchwomen's leading scorer with 11.7 ppg. Brittney Kenney is right behind her contributing 11.6 ppg. Rachel Beaulac is bringing down a team-high 5.8 rpg, and Mary Donahue leads Union with 20 steals and 37 assists this season.
