The third-seeded William Smith lacrosse team will travel to Troy, N.Y., to take on the No. 2 RIT Tigers in a Liberty League semifinal on Friday, May 4. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Herons finished the regular season with an 8-8 record and a 7-2 mark in the Liberty League. Junior
Kathleen Ragan leads the team with 54 points on 34 goals and 20 assists. Senior
Rosie Scheibel has tallied a team-high 39 goals. Senior
Lucy Johnson is right behind her with 37 goals. She also leads the team with 43 ground balls and 60 draws. Senior
Callie Frelinghuysen has notched a team-high 21 caused turnovers this season. Sophomore
Maggie McNair has played the majority of minutes in goal for William Smith. She has recorded a .452 save percentage and a 10.76 goals against average.
RIT posted a 10-6 overall record and a 7-2 conference mark. The Tigers earned the higher seed as a result of a 15-9 win over the Herons on April 27. Shelby Vakiener leads RIT with 73 goals and 37 assists for 110 points. She has recorded a team-high 48 ground balls and 67 draw controls.
Rebecca Lampson has logged 60 goals and 22 assists for the Tigers. She shares a team-high with 15 caused turnovers. Katelyn Crane has seen the majority of time in goal for RIT. She is sporting a .455 save percentage and a 13.30 goals against average.
Top-seed and host RPI will take on No. 4 seed Union in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. on Friday.
