Statesmen defeat Bard 1-0

Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Hobart College junior Marco Ronning converted a penalty kick in the 31st minute, and it proved to be enough as the Statesmen defeated Bard College 1-0 in a Liberty League game this afternoon.

The penalty kick was awarded after an obvious hand ball in the box, and Ronning got Bard keeper Daniel Gagne going the other way as he buried the kick to the lower left corner. It was Ronning's third goal this season.

The Statesmen, 6-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Liberty League, had the better of the play throughout the contest. Hobart outshot Bard, 13-3, and produced five corners to one for the Raptors.

Bard (4-7-0, 0-2-0 Liberty) got six saves from Gagne.

Junior Tyler Serafine played all 90 minutes in goal. He picked up his first win and first shutout of the season in goal for Hobart, making two saves. It's the fifth shutout of the season for the Statesmen.

Hobart next travels to Vassar College for a Liberty League game on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m.
