GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second year in a row and the third time in the past four seasons, the William Smith College basketball team will face Vassar College in the Liberty League Tournament. The Herons travel to Poughkeepsie for a semifinal game on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Tipoff in the Brewers' Athletics and Fitness Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.

William Smith posted a 19-6 overall record and a 12-4 mark in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed in the four-team tournament. The 19 wins are the most by the Herons since going 25-4 in 2007-08.

Vassar is 20-5 on the year with a 13-3 league record. It's the Brewer's second straight 20-win season, coming on the heels of last year's 21-5 record.

Vassar and William Smith finished first and second, respectively, in the conference in several statistical categories including scoring margin (+10.0 - +6.2), field goal percentage (.412-.408), 3-point field goal percentage (.366-.344), and 3-point field goal percentage defense (.268-.270).

The Heron lineup features three players scoring more than 11 points per game. Junior forward
Chloe Hayter paces the team in scoring (14.4), rebounding (8.4), and blocked shots (0.7). Senior guard
Erin O'Brien adds 12.0 ppg and a team-high 4.1 apg. Senior guard
Sasha Borenstein is one of the top 3-point shooters in the nation (3.0/g, .418) and contributes 11.3 ppg.

The Brewers are led by the reigning conference player of the year, senior guard Cydni Matsuoka. She sports league bests of 18.3 ppg and 5.8 apg. Senior forward Hannah Senftleber chips in 14.5 ppg and a team best 9.7 rpg and sophomore guard Caitlyn Drakeley adds 12.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg.

This will be the 34th meeting between the two programs with William Smith holding a 30-3 series lead. The Brewers got their first win over the Herons in the 2011 Liberty League Championship game in Canton, 77-67. The Herons won last season's semifinal showdown in Poughkeepsie, 69-58. William Smith swept the regular season series this year, winning 73-63 in Poughkeepsie and 75-72 in overtime in Geneva.

The winner will advance to the Liberty League Championship game on Saturday, March 1, against the winner of the other semifinal, RIT at St. Lawrence. The title game will be played at the highest remaining seed.
