ORLANDO, Fla. – The Hobart College tennis team dropped the first match of its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida to Connecticut College 6-3 this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 4-1 this season.

The Camels earned an early 2-1 lead winning two of the three doubles matches. First-years
Harry Nichols and
Colin Marker defeated Jeff Basch and Mike Fratt 8-3 in the No. 3 spot. Senior
Michael Fields and
Matt DePrima dropped a close match, 9-7, in the No. 1 position.

In singles play, first-year
Miles Singer collected a three set victory at No. 5. After dropping the first set to Ben Sachs, 6-4, Singer rallied to win the second set 6-2 and then won the tiebreak 11-9. Sophomore
Danny Kot defeated Patrick Farrell 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 6 spot. At No. 1 singles, sophomore
Michael Rusk and Joshua Suneby split the first two sets, 6-2, 3-6, before Suneby won 10-6 in the third set. In the No. 2 spot, Fields had a set point to force a third set but ended up losing the game and match, 6-2, 7-5.

Hobart returns to the court Tuesday, March 17, for a pair of games. The Statesmen will play Luther College and Grinell College.
