OSWEGO, N.Y.—Hobart College junior
Alex Grant matched his career low 18-hole score and tied for second place in the Oswego State Fall Invitational today.
At the Oswego Country Club, Grant navigated the course in 77 strokes, six over par and just two shots off the leader. The score matched his best round as a collegian, which he carded in the first round of the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational last spring.
Senior
Jay Puleo also finished in the top 15 for the Statesmen. He tied for 15th place after shooting an 81. Juniors
Harry Hagen and
John Patrick Squillace finished tied for 41st place with rounds of 89. Sophomore
Sam Moise-Silverman rounded out the Hobart contingent, finishing in 50th place, three strokes behind Hagan and Squillace.
SUNY Delhi's Raymond Schott took home individual medalist honors with a four-over 75.
With three golfers in the top 5, the host Lakers won the team title by two strokes over Potsdam. Delhi A and Delhi B were third and fourth, respectively, followed by Oswego B and SUNY Canton. The Statesmen finished seventh, four strokes behind the Kangaroos and two strokes better than eighth place Elmira. Morrisville, SUNY ESF and Keuka completed the 11-team field.
Hobart will compete in the first two rounds of the Liberty League Championship on Sept. 26-27 in Potsdam. The conference championship will conclude with two additional rounds in the spring.
