GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College tennis team notched a 6-3 non-conference victory over Division II Roberts Wesleyan in Bristol Field House this afternoon. With the win, the Statesmen improve to 4-4 overall and 4-1 at home.

Jonathan Atwater improved to 6-6 on the season with an 8-6 win at No. 2. Roberts Wesleyan, who is ranked eighth in the Oracle/ITA Division II East Rankings, got on the board with an 8-6 win in the top spot.

The Statesmen won four singles matches to secure the 6-3 decision. At. No. 3, junior
Michael Rusk won his third straight match, besting Jose Lopez Tapia, 6-3, 6-2. Nichols also won in two sets, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4. Atwater improved to 8-4 in singles play in his rookie campaign with a three set, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, win over Robert Breer that clinched the match for Hobart. Junior
Patrick Dunk bested Eshleman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 to give the Statesmen the final margin.

In the top spot, Salita pushed Charles Farres, the 11th ranked singles player in Oracle/ITA Division II East Rankings, to three sets. Farres emerged with the win, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. Rene Torti collected Roberts Wesleyan's final point at No. 5 singles.

Hobart will be back in action next Wednesday, April 6, when they host Hamilton. The Statesmen will begin Liberty League play on April 9 when they host Bard.Â
