ITHACA, N.Y.- William Smith College senior
Caroline Conboy claimed her second Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association title in as many nights when she touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke this evening. Following tonight's final session, Conboy a two-time state champion was tabbed the UNYSCSA Women's Co-Swimmer of the Meet along with Ithaca's Grace Ayer.

Conboy entered the meet as the top seed in the 200 breaststroke. In the morning preliminary swim, she cruised to the event's fastest time, 2:19.61, to claim the top seed in the championship final. This evening, Conboy took the lead right from the start and stopped the clock at 2:18.79, three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Her time was an NCAA "B" level cut time and lowered her own school record by nearly a second. Conboy also won the 200 breaststroke at last year's meet. Conboy was voted co-swimmer of the meet following a solid week in the pool that saw her win the 100 and 200 breaststrokes and finish third in the 200 individual medley and help William Smith's 200 and 400 medley relays break school records. She finishes her career as a two-time state champion in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.

Sophomore
Kelley Mantz joined Conboy in the finals of the 200 breaststroke this evening. Mantz won the third level final, 17th overall, with a time of 2:31.20.

Anna Leffler qualified for the consolation final in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.75, the morning's 12th fastest swim. This evening, she finished second in the consolation final, 10th overall, stopping the clock at 2:10.53.

William Smith finished the championship in eighth place, one spot higher than the last two years. The Herons earned 425 points, 140 points behind seventh place Nazareth and 38 points ahead of ninth place St. Lawrence. Ithaca won the team competition with 1488.5 points.

While William Smith has wrapped up its 2016-17 season, Conboy has a chance to continue her career. The senior currently holds two NCAA "B" level cut times. Those swimmers who reach the "A" qualifying standard earn automatic berths to the NCAA Championships March 15-18 in Shenandoah, Texas. Conboy will find out if she makes the NCAA championship field when it is announced on Feb. 27 at 8 p.m.
