BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The William Smith swimming and diving team was back in action over the weekend as it took on SUNY Brockport in a dual meet on Saturday. The Herons put up a fight and collected several wins but ultimately fell 184-112 to the Golden Eagles.
William Smith was led by sophomore
Aurora Donta-Venman's first place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. She touched the wall at 11:47.89 to secure the win and grab crucial points for the Herons. Sophomore
Sadie Levy finished fourth in the same event with a time of 12:53.02. Donta-Venman also added a third-place finish in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:48.62.
First-year
Lark Sallade finished first in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 29.07. She was followed by first-year
Keelyn Brink in second with a time of 29.09 and a fourth-place finish from senior
Hali Seidberg with a time of 29.81. Sallade added a third-place finish in the 100-yard fly after stopping the clock at 1:05.48. Seidberg chipped in a fourth-place finish in the same event after touching the wall at 1:05.89.
In the 200-yard freestyle, junior
Mackenzie Morus swam to a second-place finish with a time of 2:09.90. She was followed by senior
Lea Doufekias Emanuel in third with a time of 2:10.30 and senior
Marguerite Woodruff with a fifth-place finish and a time of 2:18.60. Morus added a second-place finish in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:56.01, and a third-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley after stopping the clock at 1:06.85.
Sophomore
Kaleigh Boynton put on an impressive performance in the 50-yard backstroke as she finished second with a time of 34.41. Classmate
Jenna Flihan followed in fourth after touching the wall at 35.57. In the 50-yard breaststroke, sophomore
Boglarka Olah touched the wall at 30.93 to claim third place, while first-year
Sofia Ciereck followed in fourth with a time of 31.73.
From the diving boards, sophomore
Fiona Garfield led William Smith with a first-place finish from the 3-meter board. She earned a score of 267.25 to secure the win and grab crucial points for the Herons. Garfield's score also secured her a spot at the 2026 NCAA Regional Diving Championships. It was the first time in her career she has qualified for the regional championships. Senior
Haley Levine added a third-place finish from the 3-meter board with a score of 180.15. From the 1-meter board, Garfield added a second-place finish with a score of 238.00, while Levine finished third with a score of 117.15.

William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it hosts RIT for a dual meet in Bristol Pool. Action between the Herons and the Tigers is set for 1 p.m.
