TROY, N.Y. – The William Smith swimming and diving team traveled to Troy, New York, over the weekend to compete at RPI's Kumpf Invitational in Robinson Pool. The Herons competed against the host Engineers, SUNY Cortland and Skidmore and finished the day in fourth place with 202 team points.
The afternoon was highlighted by junior
Mackenzie Morus' fourth place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. She touched the wall at 2:22.88 to secure fourth place. Morus also claimed 10th place in the 100-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:07.96. In the same event, first-year
Lark Sallade posted a personal best time of 1:07.98 to secure 11th, while senior
Lea Doufekias Emanuel claimed 12th with a time of 1:10.13.
Doufekias Emanuel also impressed in the 200-yard freestyle as she finished ninth with a time of 2:13.02. In the same event, senior
Marguerite Woodruff finished 11th with a time of 2:17.39 and junior
Tiernee Brandes touched the wall at 2:24.30 to grab 12th place.
Sophomore
Aurora Donta-Venman swam to a sixth-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle after touching the wall at 11:55.46, while classmate
Sadie Levy finished 10th with a time of 12:53.89. Levy also secured an 11th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:32.88. In that same event, sophomore
Boglarka Olah swam to a seventh-place finish after touching the wall at 2:25.65, while Sallade secured ninth with a time of 2:30.56.
William Smith had a strong showing in the 50-yard freestyle as sophomore
Amalia Olivieri led the Herons with a ninth place finish and a time of 27.36. First-year
Keelyn Brink secured 11th with a time of 27.82, while senior
Hali Seidberg finished 12th after touching the wall at 28.54. Sophomore
Jenna Flihan and Brink impressed in the 100-yard freestyle, securing 10th and 11th place, respectively.
Junior
Emma Haher posted a personal best time of 6:25.80 in the 500-yard freestyle, securing 10th place, while sophomore
Kaleigh Boynton and junior
Bria Romano finished 10th and 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke, respectively.
From the diving boards, sophomore
Fiona Garfield led the Herons with a fourth-place finish (218.00) from the 3-meter board and a fifth-place finish (215.70) from the 1-meter board. Senior
Haley Levine chipped in 11th place finishes from both boards as well.

William Smith will be back in action on Jan. 24, when it travels to SUNY Brockport for a dual meet. Action between the Herons and the Golden Eagles is set for 1 p.m.
