CLINTON, N.Y.—The Hobart College cross country team competed in the Hamilton College Short Course Tune Up this morning. The Statesmen finished in the unique event that includes a 4-kilometer and a 5-kilometer race.
In the 4k, Hobart was third of three teams with first-year
Stewart Falso leading the way. In the 5k, the Statesmen were fourth out of eight teams with sophomore
Max Tulchinsky guiding Hobart to the finish line.
Falso was 17th out of 29 runners with classmates Matt Ayres and
Henry Gomez in tow, placing 18th and 19th, respectively. Falso stopped the clock at 16:06.4, Ayres was 20 seconds behind with Gomez less than two seconds behind Ayres.
Tulchinsky was fifth in a field of 66 runners. He clocked in at 17 minutes flat, just over a minute behind the winner, Logan Roots from Royal Military College. Junior
Josh Wasserman also placed in the top 20, finishing 16th with a time of 17:32.5. First-year
Shane Pursch and junior
William Fletcher were 21st and 22nd, respectively. They timed in just under and just over the 18-minute mark.
Hobart's next race with be on Saturday, Oct. 27, when the Statesmen race for the Liberty League Championship at Clarkson.
