POTSDAM, N.Y.—The Hobart College cross country team finished eighth in the Liberty League Championship hosted by Clarkson University this afternoon. Each of the Statesmen's top four runners posted a season's best time on the 8-kilometer course.
Sophomore
Max Tulchinsky led Hobart to the line, stopping the clock at 26:57.1 to place 52nd in a field of 117 runners. Junior
Josh Wasserman was the next Statesman finisher, placing 60th in 27:21.4. Junior
William Fletcher showed the most improvement for Hobart, lowering his season's best 8k time by more than 57 seconds to 27:49.1. He was 74th today. First-year
Shane Pursch was two spots behind Fletcher in 28:01.6 with classmate
Andrew Broering rounding out the Statesmen team score with a time of 30:58.6.
Led by the 1-2 finish of Sean and Grant O'Connor, Rensselaer won the team title by 21 points over RIT. St. Lawrence, Ithaca, Vassar, Clarkson, Union, Hobart and Bard completed the team standings.
The Statesmen's next race will be on Saturday, Nov. 10, when they compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship in Logan Township, N.J.
