Box Score 2 The Hobart College tennis team dropped a pair of matches in Ohio this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, 25th-ranked Case Western Reserve defeated the Statesmen 8-1. This afternoon, Oberlin slipped past Hobart 6-3 in a tightly contested contest. The Statesmen are now 1-2 on the season.

Jonah Salita led the way for Hobart, posting a 2-0 record in singles play for the weekend. On Saturday, against the Spartans, he rallied for a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Anthony Kanam. Case Western won only two of the singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Alan Dubrovsky played one of the closest matches of the day in the No. 1 spot. He was topped by James Fojtasek 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 10-8. Dubrovsky and Salita put up a strong fight at No. 1 doubles but were edged by Matthew Chen, and Fojtasek 8-6.
In today's match against Oberlin, Hobart fell behind 3-0 at the conclusion of doubles play. Salita and Dubrovsky forced a tiebreaker with Camron Cohen and Stephen Gruppuso but lost 8-7 (7-5). The Statesmen lost the other two doubles matches by a score of 8-4. Hobart rallied in singles play but came up short. At No. 2, Salita got revenge for doubles, defeating Gruppuso 7-6, 7-5. With the two wins this weekend, Salita is now 6-2 on the season. Junior
Jonathan Atwater rolled to a 6-1, 7-5 win over Zachary Vaughn at No. 3. The win was Atwater's sixth of the season. First-year
Walker Anderson won his sixth match, besting his Oberlin opponent 7-6 (7-1), 6-4. Dubrovsky and junior
David Reinharz forced tiebreakers but were edged by their opponents at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively.
The Statesmen will be back in action when they travel to Orlando, Fla., for their annual spring break trip. Hobart will open the trip with a match against Hamilton on March 18.
