ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart College cross country team competed in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College today. The Statesmen, led by sophomore
Max Tulchinsky, were 14th out of 21 teams.
For the fourth time in as many races this season, Tulchinsky was the top Hobart finisher. He logged his best 8-kilometer time of the season, finishing in 27:13.5 to finish 32nd out of 233 runners that represented all three NCAA divisions. Junior
Josh Wasserman was the second Statesman to the finish line, clocking in at 28:20.5 (also a season's best 8k) and placing 75th. First-year
Shane Pursch was 91st in his first collegiate 8k, posting a time of 28:43.7. First-year
Andrew Broering (30:46.7) and junior Will Fletcher (30:46.8) rounded out the Hobart team scoring, finishing 135th and 136th, respectively.
The Statesmen were just five points behind 13th place Alfred State and 119 points ahead of 15th place D'Youville. The host Redhawks took the team title by a single point over 13th-ranked SUNY Geneseo.
The Knights' Jackson Tate was the overall winner with a time of 25:25.6, 36.9 seconds ahead of the runner-up, SUNY Fredonia's Ethan Francis.
Hobart will be back in action at noon on Saturday, Sept. 29, when the Statesmen run in the Geneseo Invitational.
