GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior
Therese Mandracchia won the 3-meter diving competition but the Rochester Institute of Technology defeated the Herons 124.5-87.5 in Bristol Pool tonight. The Tigers improved to 9-0 in dual meets, while William Smith falls to 4-1.
Mandracchia earned the Herons' first place finish with a score of 249.6, more than 53 points ahead of the runner-up. She was third in the 1-meter competition with a score of 191.3 and third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.34, one second behind the winner, RIT's Sedera Zbranak.
William Smith also got first place points from sophomore
Emma Wilber in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 free relay team of first-year
Katie Mullin, junior
Anna Leffler, sophomore
Molly Egan, and sophomore
Lindsay Fleischer.
Leffler and Egan posted two second place finishes each. Leffler was second in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke, while Egan was the runner-up in the 100 and 200 free. In the 100, Egan (56.16) was just 0.64 seconds behind the winner, RIT's Alicia Shenal (55.52).
The Tigers' Mililani Rosare was a double winner, capturing the 200 IM in 2:13.25 and the 100 back in 59.46. In addition to her win in the 50 free, Zbranak also triumphed in the 500 in 5:27.15, 7.2 seconds ahead of Mullin.
William Smith will host Cazenovia and Wells in a double dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 26. Racing begins in Bristol Pool at 1 p.m. It will be the final home meet for Mandracchia and classmate
Hannah Schley.
