ITHACA, N.Y.—The William Smith College swimming and diving team broke a pair of school records on Day 3 of the Liberty League Championships at Ithaca College's Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
The Herons eclipsed the school standards in the 800-yard freestyle relay and in the process also topped the 200 free record. Junior
Anna Leffler, who broke the 400 IM record twice yesterday, led off the 800 free relay and clocked in at 1:56.05, 0.62 seconds ahead of sophomore

Emily Mink and Egan followed Leffler in the relay, posting a time of 7:49.74 to place second overall. They shattered the Heron record set 30 years ago. Since Feb. 16, 1989, Kate Hendrickson '89, Clare Mayer '90, Deborah Hall '91, Meghan O'Brien '89 held the record of 8:02.69.
William Smith almost had a third record-breaking swim in the 100 backstroke. Sophomore
Katie Mullin qualified for the championship final with a preliminary swim of 59.12. In the evening session, she finished sixth with a time of 58.88, just 0.08 off the record set by Leffler at last season's league championships. Sophomore
Emma Wilber earned a spot in the B final, logging an evening time of 1:00.81 to finish fifth (13th overall).
First-year
Robin Kirchgessner also qualified for a B final in the 200 butterfly. She won her evening race with a time of 2:14.5, placing ninth overall.
With one day remaining in the championship, William Smith remains in sixth place with 585 points. The Herons are 111 points behind fifth place Union (696) and 106.5 points ahead of seventh place Skidmore (478.5).
