The No. 17 William Smith College lacrosse team begins a five-game homestand this weekend when they welcome Geneseo and Messiah to Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium.

Originally scheduled to be the season opener, the Herons will host the Knights tomorrow, March 29, at 4 p.m. The game was postponed twice due to winter storms. William Smith will then take on the Falcons on Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m.

Jules Kennedy and
Olivia Hofmann have split the minutes early in the season. Kennedy is 4-2 with a 7.62 goals against average and a .472 save percentage. Hofmann is 2-0 with an 8.62 GAA and a .422 save percentage. Kennedy leads the Liberty League in GAA and is sixth in save percentage.

Geneseo enters the weekend with a 4-3 overall record. The Knights defeated RIT 13-12 in overtime on Wednesday night. All four of Geneseo's victories this season have come against the Liberty League. Hannah Marafioti leads the team with 22 goals and 29 points. Nicole Voci has a team best 10 assists. Tess McFadden has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 3-2 with a 9.73 GAA and a .424 save percentage.

Friday's game will be the sixth overall meeting between William Smith and Geneseo. The Knights hold a 3-2 edge in series. The Herons hold a 2-1 edge in Geneva.

Messiah brings a 1-8 record into the weekend. The Falcons were bested by No. 10 Catholic 13-6 on Wednesday night. William Smith will be the fifth nationally ranked team that Messiah has faced this season. Mckenna Edwards leads the Falcons with 16 points. Annika Johnsen and Abby Howard each have 13 goals to lead the team. Amber Orner has played a majority of the minutes in goal. She is 1-7 with a 14.67 GAA and a .392 save percentage.

Saturday's game will be the fifth meeting all-time between William Smith and Messiah. The Herons hold a 3-1 edge in the series. All four of the previous meetings were held in Florida.
