Statesmen host Profs in gridiron showdown

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will host Rowan University on Saturday, Sept. 21, on Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium. The opening kickoff is at noon.
 
Admission to all Hobart football games is free to all fans. Those that can't watch the game in person can follow the action online with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will also be broadcast live by WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3).
 
The Statesmen improved to 2-0 with last week's 38-24 win at Morrisville State. Junior linebacker Emmett Forde was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week for the second week in a row after posting eight tackles, 3.0 for loss, and a sack against the Mustangs. Hobart also had a pair of record breaking performances on special teams. Senior punter John DelliSanti, the Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week, punted four times at Morrisville, averaging a Statesmen game record 52.8 yards per punt. Junior kicker Kyle Hackett's 30-yard field goal in the first quarter was the 20th of his career, giving him sole possession of the Hobart career record for field goals made.
 
Hobart's defense has allowed 15.5 points per game, 83.0 yards rushing per game and 317.5 yards passing per game. The Statesmen are fourth in the nation in interceptions (6) and ninth in the country in turnovers gained (7).
 
Hobart is scoring 35.5 points per game, rushing for 124.5 yards per game and passing for 143.5 yards per game.
 
Rowan heads to Geneva looking for its first win after suffering a pair of losses at home. The Profs were on the short end of a 38-28 decision to Widener in Week 1 and fell 35-14 to then No. 12 Linfield in Week 2. Rowan averaged 21.0 points per game on 157 yards rushing and 215.5 yards passing. The Profs yield 36.5 points per game on 68.5 yards rushing and 283.5 yards passing.
 
This will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams and the first during the regular season. The two previous contests were both played in Glassboro, N.J., with Rowan prevailing in the most recent game, a 2006 NCAA first round playoff clash, 20-18.
