IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y.—William Smith golfer Justine Burness finished sixth out of 22 entries in the Nazareth Invitational this weekend. The 36-hole tournament was played over two days, starting at The Links at Greystone and wrapping up at Irondequoit Country Club. Both courses featured a par 72 layout.

On Saturday, Burness opened the tournament with an 84, one shot off her best 18 holes of the fall season, to put her in third place. She closed the book on the fall portion of the Herons' schedule with an 89, carding three birdies. Teammate Emma Nedeau placed 12th with rounds of 90 and 96. Ashley Byron made a 12 stroke improvement from Saturday to Sunday, closing out the fall with a 97.

Cortland won the team title behind individual medalist Paige Cerminario (81-79-160). Teammate Alivia Waldron was second six strokes back. The host Golden Flyers were second in the team standings.

Nedeau, Burness and Byron competed in all nine rounds for the Herons this fall. Nedeau had the best scoring average of the three at 89.0, including a pair of record-breaking rounds at the St. Lawrence Invitational. She shot a 78 in the first round, the best score in program history, and then topped that mark with a 77 in the second round.
