SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Hobart College rowing team won the Liberty League Men's Rowing Championship for the 15th consecutive season. The Statesmen took home gold medals in the first and second varsity eights on its way to capturing the conference championship.
The 2021 Liberty League Championship was decided by the winner of the varsity eight race. In order to claim the league title, the team that won the 1V race had to have an entry in the second varsity eight race.
Entering today's championship, the varsity eight race had been contested 16 times with Hobart's varsity eight claiming 16 gold medals. This afternoon,

Cameron Kumagai,
David Ranney and
Alex Sickmuller extended the streak to 17 gold medals on Fish Creek. The Statesmen powered down the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:42.024. Ithaca crossed the line second, 20.443 back.
Competing in the first race of the day, Hobart's second varsity eight won its 10th straight gold medal at the conference championship regatta.

Ryan Mulflur stopped the clock at 7:37.030. They beat RIT by 11.931 seconds and Ithaca by 12.388.
The Statesmen also entered a third varsity eight in this afternoon's competition.

Chris Bass won a silver medal. The posted a time of 7:55.921. St. Lawrence crossed the line first, five seconds ahead of Hobart.
Hobart will be back in action next weekend, May 8, when it is back in Saratoga Springs to take on Marist.
