UTICA, N.Y.—Hobart College first-year Daniel Barrientos won twice on the 1-meter diving board as the Statesmen took on Utica University this evening. Despite his strong performances, the Pioneers won the meet 90-33.

TWICE IS NICE
  • With only a 1-meter board at Utica University Pool, Barrientos completed five dives for a winning score of 183.5.
  • Later in the meet, he executed an addition six dives for a second winning score, this time accumulating 280, for an 11-dive total of 463.5.

RETURN OF THE RELAY
  • In its first season back in the pool since the 1990s, Hobart hasn't yet had a full lineup due to illness and injury. The Statesmen took a step in the right direction tonight, fielding its first relay team of the season.
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay of Tillman Washington, Jameson Ardis, Avi Rajkarnikar and Joseph Foster finished second, logging a time of 1:47.8.

COACH'S CORNER

"Another exciting performance on the boards for Daniel led the way for our Statesmen. It was nice to get a few of our guys healthy and I want to give a well-deserved shoutout to our new diver Tillman Washington, who stepped up in a big way and swam his first ever 50 free to lead off our first relay of the year. Big congrats to all the guys who fought hard in every race. This is just the beginning." —Head Coach R.C. Weston

UP NEXT
  • The Statesmen will be back in the pool Nov. 12 when they welcome St. Lawrence and Oswego State to Bristol Pool.
