The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced earlier this week that senior diver Daniel Barrientos of the Hobart swimming and diving team was named first team All-American on the 3-meter board for the 2025-26 season. Barrientos is one of 228 male student-athletes from 45 institutions that earned All-American honors. This is Barrientos' second straight CSCAA All-American recognition after earning second team honors last season.
The senior from Fulshear, Texas, earned his All-American status on the 3-meter board after an impressive performance at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships. In the preliminary round, Barrientos finished fifth in the 11-dive, 3-meter competition with a score of 498.95, qualifying for the Championship Final for the first time in his career. In the evening's championship finals, he posted a six-dive score of 498.95 to finish seventh place overall, securing First Team All-American status. His seventh-place finish was the best finish at the national championships since Peter Taylor '92 finished sixth on the 3-meter board in 1990.
Barrientos' strong performance on the national stage capped off a successful collegiate career for Hobart. His senior season consisted of nine top four finishes, including four victories and two Liberty League Diver of the Week awards. Barrientos was also named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor roll four times and earned his fourth consecutive regional qualification and second straight national qualification.
At the Liberty League Championships, Barrientos secured his first career Liberty League title after a record-breaking performance. He shined from the 3-meter board, finishing first in the preliminary rounds after earning an 11-dive score of 608.25 to claim the top-seed in the finals. Barrientos continued to impress in the finals, posting a score of 630.10 in the six-dive championship round to secure first place and his first career Liberty League title. His 11-dive score shattered several records including the Hobart program record, the Ithaca pool record, the Liberty League Championship record and the Association record, which was previously held by Union's Sam Hoyt (2017). Barrientos then went on to finish fourth on the 3-meter board and eighth from the 1-meter board at the regional championships, punching his ticket to the national championships for the second straight season.
