GENEVA, N.Y.—The annual Hobart College Block H Awards Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 25 in Bristol Gymnasium. The event will be webcast on
HWS All-Access.
In addition to recognizing the top student-athletes of the 2021-22 academic year, Hobart Athletics will honor Head Cross Country Coach
Ron Fleury and Professor of Environmental Studies John Halfman.
Fleury
Fleury, who has led the Statesmen cross country team for nearly 40 years, will be presented with the
Dorinne Maxwell Memorial Citizenship Award. Since 1983, he has served as a mentor to numerous all-academic honorees, several all-conference runners, two NCAA Championship qualifiers and one CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Halfman
Halfman is the recipient of the 2022
Coach Bill Maxwell Memorial Award. A member of the Hobart and William Smith faculty since 1994, he is a steadfast supporter of the Statesmen and Herons. From the opening whistle in the fall through the final buzzer in the spring, Halfman is a consistent presence in the stands cheering for HWS student-athletes. He also serves as the Faculty-Athletic Fellow for the Hobart hockey team.
In all, nearly 70 team and department-wide awards will be presented. The newest award will be the Thomas B. Poole '61, P'91, L.H.D. '06 Award. Endowed by Hobart coaches, former student-athletes and friends of Hobart Athletics, the award was established to recognize the talents and, even more so, the exceptional character traits of a Hobart College student-athlete that embody the matching values of Poole's endless commitment to Hobart Athletics and the Colleges.
