CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y.—William Smith College senior
Emma Nedeau won the William Smith Classic by five strokes at Clifton Springs Country Club this afternoon. It was the first tournament victory of her career.
On the 5,601-yard, par 72 layout, Nedeau carded an 87, birdieing the par 5 final hole. That gave her a five-shot victory over Nazareth's Olivia Minor. The Golden Flyers finished second, third, fourth and sixth to secure the team title by nine strokes over the host Herons. Keuka finished third.
William Smith's
Lark Ervasti placed fifth, shooting a 96, with
Justine Burness tying for sixth with a 99.
Ashley Byron rounded out the Heron team score, finishing ninth.
William Smith will host another tournament this weekend, April 23-24, when they welcome St. Lawrence and Union to Clifton Springs Country Club for a 36-hole invitational.
