CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y.—The William Smith College golf team finished second in the William Smith Spring Invitational at the par 72 Clifton Springs Country Club this weekend.
Emma Nedeau and
Justine Burness both placed in the top 10 for the Herons.
William Smith was in second place after Saturday's first round.
Lark Ervasti and Nedeau paced the Herons on opening day, firing an 86 and an 87, respectively. Ervasti was in fourth place, but withdrew from the tournament due to injury. Burness, who carded a 91 on Saturday, led William Smith with a 92 on Sunday. Nedeau was the next Heron in the clubhouse with a closing round 95. Her weekend aggregate of 182 landed her in eighth place for the tournament. Burness was one stroke back in ninth place.
Ashley Byron finished in 11th place and
Brooke Hogle tied for 13th place.
Union swept the top five places to win the invitational. The Dutchwomen's Ashley Harding was the individual medalist with a weekend score of 157, 13 over par. St. Lawrence finished third in the team standings.
William Smith, St. Lawrence, Union and the rest of the Liberty League will battle for the conference championship April 30 and May 1 at Kaluhyat Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York.
