The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team finished 10th at the Atlantic Coast Championships Round 1A on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this past weekend. Oct. 7-8.

The ACC Round 1A is a qualifying regatta for the ACC Finals later this month with the top nine teams advancing to the regatta held at St. Mary's College. Â HWS will compete in the Open Atlantic Coast Tournament in Annapolis Maryland, Oct. 21-22.

ATLANTIC COAST CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1A
- Fourteen races were contested on the weekend. On Saturday, sailors were met with 6-12 knot winds out of the east southeast with a few rain squalls throughout the day. Sunday saw 10-20 knot winds out of the west with temps in the mid 60s.
- HWS finished 10th on the weekend with 259 points.
- In B Division, the Colleges were eighth with 118 points. Juan Carlos Lacerda Jones served as skipper with Rachel Duggan and Cooper Delbridge competing as crew. The combined for nine top 10 finishes, crossing the line second and third in the final two races of the weekend.
- Will Murray, Frances Depke and Robert Breslin sailed in A Division. They were 12th with 141 points. Murray and Depke won the first race of the weekend. It was one of six top-10 placings for HWS in A Division.
- Yale won the regatta, finishing the weekend with a 25-point margin over Brown.

UP NEXT
HWS will be back in action this weekend, Oct. 14-15, for three regattas. The Colleges will host the 10th annual David Lee Arnoff Trophy on Seneca Lake. HWS sailors will also be in Kings Point, New York, for the Nevins Trophy. William Smith sailors will head to Providence, Rhode Island for the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament.
