GENEVA, N.Y— The Hobart swimming and diving team was back in action this afternoon against Fredonia in Bristol Pool. The Statesmen earned their first win of the season, and the first of the Head Coach Elizabeth Bernardy era, as it defeated Fredonia 132-64, taking first place in 10 events.
Sophomore Christopher Woody led the team this afternoon, posting three first-place finishes. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Woody posted a time of 1:05.70. He followed that up with a first-place finish in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:16.21, and the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.99) along with teammates sophomore Holton Frank, and first-year's George Weir and Marshall Hemmerich.
Hemmerich kept the first place finishes rolling for the Statesmen with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (58.76) and in the 400-yard free relay with junior's Jameson Ardis and Randall Dominguez as well as first-year Gerard Humiston (3:47.42).
Humiston added two additional individual first-place finishes, leading the statesmen off to great start with a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 11:08.22. He then went on to win the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:22.95. In the 50-yard freestyle, Weir took the victory, stopping the clock at 23.98.
From the diving board, junior Daniel Barrientos led the Statesmen with first-place finishes on the one 1-meter and the 3-meter boards. He earned a score of 200.80 from the 3-meter board and a 224.75 from the 1-meter board to move to four wins on the season.

Hobart will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 26, when it welcomes Robert Wesleyan to Geneva. Action against the Red Hawks is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. in Bristol Pool.
