The Hobart and William Smith Sailing team was on the water for three regattas in Maryland this past weekend. The sailing teams combined for two top-10 finishes. HWS was fifth at the Washington College Team race seventh at the St. Mary's Women's Spring Interconference and 12th at the Graham Hall Team Reace.

WASHINGTON COLLEGE TEAM RACE
- In Chestertown, sailors racing started in a light northerly breeze that slowly died causing delays and a morning postponement. As the win filled in from the west racing resumed. One round robin was completed on Saturday.
- Sunday racing began began in a light northerly breeze with a strong incoming tide. After racing was delayed it was determined that the second round robin could not be completed.
- HWS was 3-4 on the weekend. They posted wins over Princeton, Michigan and George Washington.
- Thomas Walker Nico Garcia-Castrillon and Owen Carolan competed as skippers while Valyn Mogensen, Bennett O'Keefe and Maya Mahoney sailed as crew. Â

ST. MARY:S WOMEN"S SPRING INTERCONFERENCE
- In St. Mary's City, William Smith finished seventh with 211 points, three behind George Washington.
- Sailors battled with a light and weird westerly on Saturday that gave way to one beautiful race in a 8-10 knot southerly win. In total six races were completed. Sunday's racing started in a breeze out of the southwest at knots. It built to 10-12 knots by the end of the day.
- Elizabeth Starck and Ella Donaldson competed in B Division for the Herons, finishing seventh with 108 points. They had 11 finishes in the top 0 and won the final race of the weekend.
- Heather Kerns and Stellla Kim competed in A Division, placing eighth with 103. They crossed the line first three times and were in the top 10 in all but four races.

GRAHAM HALL TEAM RACE
- In Annapolis, teams met a slight delay due to a light northwesterly breeze, but a terrific southeasterly sea breeze filled in allowing for 84 races to be sailed by 5 p.m. On Sunday, the sailors were met with a very light and unstable northerly breeze. The wind filled in around 2 PM, leaving just enough time to squeeze in a final four round robin.
- HWS was 5-10 on the weekend, logging wins over Old Dominion, Pennsylvania, Fordham, George Washington and SUNY Maritime.
- Will Murray, Juan Carlos Lacerda Jones and Jeffrey Klempen competed as skippers. Frances Depke, Rachel Duggan and Anna McBride sailed as crew.

UP NEXT
HWS will be back on the water next weekend, March 23-24, when it heads south for a pair of regattas. The coed team will be in Norfolk, Virginia for the Szambecki Open Team Race. William Smith Sailors will be back in St. Mary's City for the Seahawk Women's Team Race.
