Three members of the William Smith hockey team were recognized by the New England Hockey Conference this afternoon. Senior
Erin Murray was named the league's Goaltender of the Week and first-year
Bella Hacker was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Week. In addition, graduate student
Mackenzie O'Neil was named to the honor roll.

The trio led the Herons to a 2-1-0 week. William Smith bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Hamilton with a weekend sweep of NEHC foe Salem State. On Friday, the Herons won 4-0 and Saturday they won 1-0.

Murray started all three games in goal finishing the week with a 1.00 GAA, a .962 save percentage and two shutouts. She did not allow a goal in eight of the nine periods. Against the Continentals, Murray stopped a career-high 46 shots. In the weekend series with the Vikings, Murray stopped all 29 shots she faced. On Tuesday against Hamilton, Murray became the third goalie in program history to record 1,000 career saves.

Murray is 4-5-0 this season with a 1.45 GAA, a .942 save percentage and four shutouts. She is third in the nation in shutouts, 21st in save percentage and 22nd in GAA. Her four shutouts are tied second on William Smith's single-season list.

Hacker had a pair of assists in the Herons' 4-0 win over the Vikings. She set up
Colleen Quirk's game-winning goal in the second period. She then assisted on O'Neil's goal in the third period.

Hacker has played in all 14 games, recording two goals and three assists. Both of her goals this season are game-winning goals and she ranks 18th in the nation in that category.

O'Neil had three points on a goal and two assists in the weekend series with Salem State. On Friday night, she had a goal and an assist. O'Neil had the lone goal in Saturday's victory.

O'Neil has played in 13 games this season, recording seven points on three goals and four assists.

William Smith is 5-8-1 overall this season with a 5-3-0 mark in conference play. The Herons are fifth in the conference standings with 16 points. William Smith will be at New England College (1-13-0, 0-8-0) this weekend, Jan. 17-18.
