Barrientos breaks 2 school records at Comanzo Diving Invitational

Barrientos tabbed back-to-back Liberty League Diver of the Week

ITHACA, N.Y.— The Hobart and William Smith swimming and diving teams were back in action on Sunday as they traveled to Ithaca, New York, to compete in the annual Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational. Junior Daniel Barrientos highlighted the HWS divers with a first-place finish from the 3-meter board, breaking two Hobart records. Additionally, Barrientos was named the Liberty League Diver of the Week for the second-straight week.

Barrientos continued to shine for the Statesmen as he collected another win from the diving boards. In the 3-meter six dive competition, Barrientos secured the win with a score of 355.20. He followed that up with a second-place finish in the 11-dive competition from the 3-meter board with a score of 556.65. Both scores broke the school record. Barrientos rounded out the weekend with a seventh-place finish from the 1-meter board as he earned a score of 232.70 for six dives.

Sophomore Rupert Ramsay added a top 10 finish from the 3-meter board as he was ninth in the 11-dive event with a personal best score of 331.75.

On the women's side, first-year Fiona Garfield led William Smith with an eighth-place finish from the 3-meter board. She earned a personal best score of 205.15 to finish eighth in the six-dive competition. From the 3-meter board, first-year Hannah Walsh added a 10th place finish after earning a score of 276.85 after 11 dives.

HWS will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 1, when it travels to Rochester to compete against RIT. Action against the Tigers is set to start at 1 p.m. in Judson Pool.
