The William Smith Alpine skiing team was back in action Jan. 25-26, competing in Week 2 of USCSA competition. The Herons finished second in Saturday's slalom, and posted a third place finish in Sunday's giant slalom.

Saturday's slalom included 70 racers, with four Herons finishing in the top-20. Senior
Marjorie Plants led William Smith with a second-place finish and a combined time of 1:38.39. Junior
Katherine Broderick finished in 11th place with a time of 1:42.51. First-year
Mia Crivelli came in 15th with a combined time of 1:47.57, while senior
Emma McKenna finished 20th with a time of 1:50.34.

The giant slalom race on Sunday saw four Herons also finish in the top-20. Plants once again finished in the top-10 with a time of 1:49.33 earning sixth place. First-year
Lily Winch came in 10th, stopping the clock at 1:51.30. Sophomore
Emily Cain finished 19th and first-year
Madison Campisi was 20th, with times of 1:56.74 and 1:56.9, respectively.

After this weekend's results, William Smith is second in the Mideast Conference standings behind Colgate.

The Herons are back in action Feb. 1-2, when they head to Bristol Mountain. The giant slalom race on Saturday begins at 9 a.m., with Sunday's slalom race also beginning at 9 a.m.
