TRUXTON, N.Y. – The William Smith Alpine skiing team was back in action this Saturday, Feb 15, for the final weekend of USCSA regular-season competition on Labrador Mountain. Sunday's slalom race was canceled due to the winter storm.
The Herons finished fifth in Saturday's giant slalom with a team time of 4:46.04. Two Herons finished top 20 in a race which featured 56 racers. Senior
Marjorie Plants shined for the Herons, finishing in second place with a combined time of 1:30.56. Sophomore
Emily Cain also finished in the top 20, clinching a 17th place finish with a time of 1:37.07.
Following the weekend of competition, William Smith continues its run in second place in the Mideast Conference standings with 25 points, sitting behind first place Cornell (9 points) and ahead of third place Hamilton (27 points).

The Herons are back in action next weekend, Feb 22-23, as they compete in the USCSA Mideast Conference Regional Championships at Bristol Mountain. The giant slalom championship will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the slalom championship begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
