Phillips nets league recognition

10/13/2025 3:58:00 PM

Hobart senior midfielder Quinn Phillips was named the Liberty League Men's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week by the league office this afternoon.

The 22nd-ranked Statesmen picked up a pair of Liberty League wins last week to improve to 10-0-2 overall this season and 5-0-1 in conference play. After defeating Ithaca 3-2 on Wednesday and Skidmore 2-1 on Saturday, Hobart improved its season-opening unbeaten streak to 12 games. The Statesmen are off to their best start to a season since going 11-0-1 to start the 2008 season.

Phillips recorded five points, factoring into all three goals in the win over the Bombers. He scored on a penalty kick in the 16th minute, and then four minutes later buried a shot from 25 yards out that curled inside the left goal post. Phillips set up Danny Spataro's game-winning tally in the 68th minute. He has started all 12 games this season, recording nine points on four goals and an assist.

The Statesmen will be back on the pitch Saturday, Oct. 18, when they welcome Vassar to Cozzens Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
