10/14/2025 4:31:00 PM

The Hobart soccer team jumped up five spots to No. 17 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. This is the fourth straight week that the Statesmen have been ranked.

At 10-0-2, Hobart is off to its best start to a season since 2008, when it went 11-0-1 through its first 12 games. The Statesmen enter the week on a four-match win streak after beating Skidmore 2-1 on Saturday. The victory improved Hobart to 5-0-1 in Liberty League play. The Statesmen sit in first place in the conference with 16 points.

In addition to being ranked 17th in the coaches' poll, Hobart is ranked 11th in the NCAA Power Index rankings that was released yesterday. NPI is the formula used for selecting at-large bids into the NCAA tournament.

Hobart is fourth in the nation in winning percentage (.917), 18th in GAA (0.583) and 28th in corner kicks per game (6.83). The Statesmen's offense is paced by sophomore Brady Leitner's seven goals and 15 points. His four game-winning goals are 11th in the nation. Sophomore Griffin Coutts (5g, 2a) is right behind him with 12 points. Senior Tommy Chyzowych has played the majority of the minutes in goal. He is 8-0-1 with a 0.67 GAA and a .769 save percentage.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when it welcomes Vassar to Cozzens Field for a 2 p.m. kickoff in a key Liberty League game.  The Brewers are 7-3-2 overall with a 3-1-1 mark in conference play. Vassar enters the week in second place in the league standings with 10 points.
