ROCHESTER, N.Y. -The William Smith swimming and diving team opened its season with a tight 150-144 win over Nazareth in a nonconference matchup this afternoon. With the win, the Herons move to 1-0 on the season.

Junior
Mackenzie Morus and sophomore
Kaleigh Boynton led William Smith in the victory, combining for two first place finishes against the Golden Flyers. Morus won the 800-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.80, while Boynton added a win in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 38.43. Morus added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly after stopping the clock at 1:13.11 and the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.91. Boynton finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.72 and joined Morus for a second-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:13.44.

Amalia Olivieri added a win in the 50-yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 29.67. She added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.29 and joined junior
Jayne Pearson, and seniors
Hali Seidberg and
Lea Doufekias Emanuel for a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:32.08.

Sophomore
Boglarka Olah finished second in the 50-yard backstroke after touching the wall at 34.49 and added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.93. She finished third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 35.10. Olah finished behind Seidberg, who won the event with a time of 32.72.

From the diving board, sophomore
Fiona Garfield finished second in from the 1-meter board with a score of 227.90, while sophomore
Hannah Walsh came in fourth with a score of 189.45. From the 3-meter board, Walsh came in third with a score of 209.90, while Garfield followed closely behind in fourth with a score of 209.55.

William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 25, when it travels to Ithaca, New York, to take on Ithaca and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Ithaca's Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
