Tommy Chyzowych was named the Liberty League Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, while eight of his teammates joined him on the all-conference teams. In addition, Thomas B. Poole '61 and Family Head Coach of Hobart Soccer
Shawn Griffin and his assistants were named the conference's Coaching Staff of the Year. The awards were decided by a vote of the league's coaches.

Joe Kennedy, have guided Hobart to a 13-0-5 overall record with a 6-0-3 mark in conference play. The Statesmen won their fifth Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. Hobart is making its 10th NCAA tournament appearance, entering the tournament with their best record since 2008. This is the fifth time that Griffin and his assistants have won the coaching staff of the year award.

Chyzowych is the second Statesman to be named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. The award was first presented in 2010. He is the fourth Hobart player to win one of the league's player of the year awards. Chyzowych has started all 15 games that he has played in this season. He is 11-0-4 overall with a 0.61 GAA, an .804 save percentage and seven shutouts. Chyzowych is 17th in the nation in GAA and 32nd in shutouts. He made a season-high five saves three times this season, including in the Liberty League Championship game against Vassar.

A two-year starter, Chyzowych has played in 32 career games. He is 16-6-10 with a 0.76 GAA and a .798 save percentage.

Sheehan, Coutts, Fischer and Souza anchor Hobart's defense that allowed just 11 goals this season, seven in league games. Hobart is 16th in the nation in team GAA (0.61). The Statesmen have allowed one goal or fewer in 16 of their 18 games this season.

Sheehan has started all 18 games at center back this season. He scored a goal in Hobart's season opener against Kean. A four-year starter, Sheehan has played in 62 career games. He has 14 points on five goals and four assists. Three of his five goals have been game winners.

Coutts moves up to the first team after earning third team recognition last year. He has started all 18 games at left back during his sophomore campaign. Coutts is third on the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. He recorded a hat trick in Hobart's win over St. Lawrence. Coutts has played in 32 career games, recording 14 points on five goals and four assists.

Also a center back, Fischer has started 15 of the 16 games he's played in this season. He has three points on a goal and an assist. Fischer's first collegiate goal came against RPI in the regular season finale. He has played in 25 career games, starting 20.

Souza was named to the All-Liberty League third team for the second straight year. A defensive midfielder, he has played in 17 games, starting eight. He plays a key role in both assisting the defense and helping the team transition from defense to offense. Souza has played in 62 career games.Â

Leitner has started all 17 games he's played in this season. He leads Hobart with nine goals and 14 points. Leitner scored both of Hobart's goals in a 2-1 win over Utica. He also had a two-goal game against Brockport. Leitner is 32nd in the nation in game-winning goals (4).

Leitner also earned All-Liberty League first team recognition last year. In 34 career games, he has 29 points on 14 goals and an assist.

Phillips has started all 18 games this season. He is second on the team with five goals, four assists and 14 points. Phillips matched his career high, recording five points on two goals and an assist at Ithaca. In the regular season finale, he had a goal and two assists against RPI.

Phillips moves up to the first team after earning second team recognition in 2023. He has played in 62 career games, recording 43 points on 16 goals and 11 assists.

Outerbridge, who was named to the All-Liberty League team for the second straight year, has started all 18 games this season. He has six points on two goals and two assists. Outerbridge recorded a goal and an assist in the Liberty League Championship game. He also scored in Hobart's 2-1 victory over Skidmore. A versatile player, Outerbridge plays all over the field for the Statesmen.

Outerbridge is a three-time All-Liberty League selection. He has started 54 of the 55 games he's played in during his career, recording 24 points on 10 goals and four assists.

The Liberty League Tournament Most Outstanding Performer, Spataro has started all 18 games this season. He has eight points on three goals and two assists. Spataro scored the first goal on Sunday in Hobart's 2-1 victory over Vassar in the conference championship game. He also had goals in wins over Clarkson and Ithaca. Spataro is in his first season with the Statesmen after playing last season at Dickinson.

Hobart enters the NCAA tournament following a 2-1 victory over Vassar on Sunday. The Statesmen will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament on Cozzens Field. Hobart will take on Messiah on Friday at 11 a.m.

Tickets are $6 for general admission, $3 for senior citizens, military personnel and students (ages 13-college), children ages 3-12 are $2. Children under 3 years old are free. HWS students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid HWS ID courtesy of HWS Athletics.
