CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- The William Smith Alpine skiing team competed in week three of USCSA action on Bristol Mountain this weekend. The Herons finished second in both Saturday's Giant Slalom and Sunday's Slalom races.

In Saturday's 62 racer giant slalom field, three Herons finishing in the top 20 to lead William Smith to a second place finish out of 12 teams. Senior
Marjorie Plants led the Herons with a second-place finish after stopping the clock at 2:01.25. Sophomore
Emily Cain took 12th with a combined time of 2:10.88, while senior
Emma McKenna finished 16th with a combined race time of 2:14.60.

Five Herons finished top 20 in Sunday's slalom competition. Out of 63 racers, Plants finished third with a time of 1:39.66. Junior
Katherine Broderick broke in the top ten as well finishing fifth with a combined time of 1:41.70. First-year
Mia Crivelli and McKenna finished 12th and 13th with times of 1:46.42 and 1:48.29, respectively. Cain rounded out the Herons' top-20 finishers with a 19th place finish after coming in at 1:54.58.

William Smith remains in second place in the Mideast Conference standings with 13 points. Colgate sits in first place with six points while Hamilton rounds out the top three with 20 team points. Â

The Herons will return to action next weekend, Feb. 8-9, when they head to Queensbury, New York, to compete in week four of USCSA action on West Mountain. Â
