GREENSBORO, N.C.-Junior Daniel Barrientos represented the Hobart swimming and diving team this week at the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships, diving to All-American status from the 3-board.
Barrientos was named a Second Team All-American after an impressive performance from the 3-meter board earlier this week. He is the first Statesman diver to be named an All-American since Peter Taylor '92 did in 1992. Barrientos is also the first All-American of the Head Coach Elizabeth Bernardy and diving coach Eliana Wallock era.
On Wednesday, Barrientos earned the first All-American recognition of his collegiate career after a strong performance from the 3-meter board. In the 11-dive competition, Barrientos combined for a score of 429.30 in the preliminary round, qualifying for the consolation final later that day. He then combined for a score of 437.15 in the finals to place 15th overall in the 24-diver field. SUNY Geneseo's Trent Makowiec was crowned the national champion from the 3-meter board with a final score of 558.35.

"It was an incredible and exciting experience to secure a spot at NCAAs as a junior. Representing HWS and showcasing his talent on the national stage was an unforgettable feeling. Being proud is an understatement and on top of that, Daniel had a phenomenal season where he broke all of his previous school records.
