Christian Petry were recognized for their dedication to excellence on the diamond and in the classroom.

"Griffin, Nate, and Christian have demonstrated leadership on and off the field for Hobart baseball," said Neil Laird, professor of geoscience and the baseball team faculty-athletic fellow. "It's great to see them recognized in this way for the hard work they have put in to their academics and athletics. They are great role models to all members of the Hobart baseball team, and student-athletes in general by showing they can effectively manage the rigorous balance of demanding academics and athletics at Hobart and William Smith."

Johnson graduated cum laude last month with a bachelor's degree in business management and entrepreneurship. He was a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection.

A shortstop, Johnson played in all 35 games, starting 34, this season. He led the Statesmen with 35 hits, 34 runs scored, 27 stolen bases while batting .278 with 18 RBIs. Johnson was third in the conference and 30th in the nation in stolen bases per game (0.77). He reached base safely in his final 15 games, including a six-game hitting streak to cap his career. Johnson was second on the team with eight multi-hit games, including three-hit performances against Colby-Sawyer and at Liberty League Champion RPI.

A transfer from Jamestown Community College, Johnson appeared in 71 games for the Statesmen, batting .299 with 78 hits, 34 RBIs, 70 runs scored and 49 stolen bases. Including his stats from JCC, he had 162 career hits batting .331 with 34 doubles, 135 runs, 90 stolen bases, 64 RBIs and 61 walks.

Snyder graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics. He was a two-time Liberty League All-Academic pick.

A starting pitcher, Snyder had a career- and team-best 3.40 ERA in 39 2/3 innings. The second team All-Liberty League selection was fourth in the conference in ERA. Snyder had a 2-2 record this season. He struck out a season-high five batters in 3 2/3 innings against Colby-Sawyer.

A transfer from Russel Sage, Snyder pitched in 29 games for Hobart, including 27 starts. In 137 2/3 innings, he had a 7-9 record with 81 strikeouts and a 5.16 ERA. Including his season with the Gators, Snyder was 11-12 with 5.91 ERA and 98 strikeouts.

An economics major, Petry is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic Team member.

Petry started all 34 games he played at second base for the Statesmen. He slashed .274/.308/.475 with 32 hits, 32 runs, 21 stolen bases and 16 RBIs. A ball magnet, Petry was second in the nation in hit-by-pitch per game (0.74) after getting plunked 25 times. He was second on the team in runs, stolen bases and walks. Petry delivered a four-hit game, including a two-run, walk-off single to beat Keuka.

Through three seasons, Petry is batting .283 with 97 hits, 84 runs, 60 walks, 51 hit-by-pitch, 46 RBIs and 42 stolen bases. He reached base safely in 39 consecutive games spanning his first-year and sophomore seasons.

To earn Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, be a sophomore academically and athletically and play in at least 90% of the team's games or start 66% of the team's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or thrown at least 35 innings.

Hobart was 18-17 this season, the program's first winning season since returning to varsity status in 2023. The last time the Statesmen had a winning record was 1994 (27-10).
