Sophomore Duncan Kipkoech of the Hobart cross country team was recognized by the Liberty League as the conference's Performer of the Week after leading the Statesmen to victory at the SUNY Poly Wildcat Classic on Saturday. It was his second career conference recognition after being named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 29, 2024.
 
Kipkoech led the 67-runner field to the finish line during the 8-kilometer race, stopping the clock at 27:17.3, to secure the win. He finished 30.9 seconds ahead of the second-place runner to lead Hobart to victory.
 
The win was Kipkoech's first collegiate victory and Hobart's second win of the season. The Statesmen finished with 29 points after producing four top-10 finishers. Hobart closed out the race 14 points ahead of second place St. John Fisher.
 
Kipkoech and the Statesmen will be back in action Oct. 11, when they travel to Houghton, New York, for the Highlander Invitational.
