READING, Pa.—The William Smith bowling team finished the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin No. 2 in first place over the weekend. The Herons went 5-1 in traditional matches, tying Alvernia and Saint Vincent, but prevailed on tiebreakers.
The first AMCC tiebreaker is head-to-head record of the tied teams. All three went 1-1. The second tiebreaker is total pinfall against the tied teams. William Smith finished with a 932 against Saint Vincent and an 880 against Alvernia for 1,812. The Wildcats bowled a 960 against the Herons and a 787 against the Golden Wolves for a total of 1,809. Alvernia landed in third place with 1,698 pins.

On Day 1, the Herons sandwiched wins over the Bobcats and host Golden Wolves around a narrow loss to the Bearcats. Senior
Caitlyn Anschutz bowled a 222 in the opener and followed that with a 203 against Saint Vincent. Senior
Michaela Morgan paced William Smith against the Bearcats with a 234.
Morgan's 234 ranks 15th on the Herons single game list, while Anschutz's 222 is 29th.

William Smith cruised to three straight wins on Sunday. A different Heron posted a 200-game in each match. Sophomore
Sarah Shoobe led the way against the Lions with a 216. Anschutz bowled an impressive 247 against the Panthers, the fourth highest game in Heron history. Senior
McKenzie Pantola had the high game against the Hawks with a 207.
Three Herons finished in the top 10 in the individual standings for the weekend. Anschutz was 3rd out of 49 bowlers with a 202.17 average. Morgan (174.5) and sophomore
Brooke Gervais (173.5) were ninth and 10th, respectively.
CHAMPIONSHIP SEEDINGS SET
Coupled with the results of the first AMCC Round Robin, William Smith will be the No. 2 seed in the AMCC Championship March 20-22 in Pittsburgh. The defending champion, Saint Vincent, is the No. 1 seed with a 10-2 record. The Herons were 9-3.
William Smith will get a first-round bye and face the winner of No. 3 Alvernia (8-4) and No. 6 Pitt-Bradford (2-10) in the second round.
The Bearcats also earned a bye and will take on the winner of No. 4 Penn State Behrend (7-5) and No. 5 Hilbert (6-6).
