Hobart #1 ahead of key conference clash

2/2/2026 3:49:00 PM

The Hobart hockey team remained the unanimous No. 1 team in the country in the USCHO.com poll, which was released this afternoon. This is the 42nd consecutive poll that the Statesmen have been ranked No. 1 and the eighth straight time they have been the unanimous No. 1 team.

The Statesmen became the first team in the country to hit the 20-win plateau on Saturday, recording SUNYAC wins over Canton (5-1) and Potsdam (7-0) this past weekend. Hobart is 20-0-0 with a 13-0-0 mark in conference play. The Statesmen, who had already locked in a SUNYAC playoff spot entering the weekend, secured a spot in the top three and at least one home game with the wins over the Roos and the Bears.

In addition to being No. 1 in the USCHO.com Poll, the Statesmen are first in the NCAA Power Index rankings released today. NPI is the formula used to select at-large bids for the NCAA tournament.

Hobart enters the week first in the nation in several statistical categories, including winning percentage (1.000), scoring offense (5.50), scoring defense (1.05), scoring margin (4.45), power-play percentage (.329), goals (110), assists (188), and points (298). The Statesmen have allowed just 21 goals in 20 games.

Hobart will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 6, when it welcomes sixth-ranked Oswego (14-3-2, 11-2-0) to The Cooler. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
