Swimming & diving concludes action at Liberty League Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Hobart and William Smith swimming & diving teams produced several strong showings as it wrapped up action at the 2026 Liberty League Championships. After four days of competition, Hobart finished in ninth place with 272 points, while William Smith finished seventh with 428 points.
 
On the men's side, Day 4 was highlighted by a ninth-place finish in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay. Hobart's "A" relay team made up of first-year Caleb Halpine, sophomores Payton Owens and Gerard Humiston and senior Randall Dominguez touched the wall at 3:33.36 to secure ninth place in the finals this evening.
 
Owens also added a 25th place finish in the men's 1650-yard freestyle after stopping the clock at 19:55.51 in the evening finals.
 
On the women's side, William Smith produced two finalists in the 1650-yard freestyle. Sophomore Aurora Donta-Venman secured a 16th place finish after touching the wall at 19:27.60. Classmate Sadie Levy followed closely behind in 18th with a time of 19:51.31.
 
In the women's 100-yard freestyle, sophomore Amalia Olivieri secured a spot in the "C" finals after touching the wall at 56.78 in the prelims. Olivieri swam to a 21st place finish in the finals after stopping the clock at 55.91. Senior Lea Doufekias Emanuel also secured a spot in the "C" finals after swimming to a time of 56.58 in the prelims. She finished in 24th in the finals with a time of 56.57.
 
Sophomore Boglarka Olah continued to shine for the Herons as she qualified for the "C" finals in the women's 200-yard backstroke with a preliminary time of 2:19.59. Olah went on to finish 21st in the finals with a time of 2:18.15
 
In the women's 200-yard breaststroke, two Herons swam to a spot in the "C" finals after impressive performances in the prelims. Sophomore Kaleigh Boynton touched the wall at 2:39.78 in the prelims and went on to secure a time of 2:41.69 in the finals to grab 20th place. Classmate Jenna Flihan stopped the clock at 2:43.26 in the prelims and went on to finish 21st overall with a time of 2:42.40 in the finals.
 
William Smith looked strong in the relay this evening as it produced two relay teams that qualified for the finals in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. The Herons "A" relay team of Olivieri, Doufekias Emanuel, first-year Lark Sallade and junior Mackenzie Morus swam to a seventh-place finish in the finals after stopping the clock at 3:45.58. The Herons "B" relay team of first-year Keelyn Brink, Levy, junior Emma Haher and senior Marguerite Woodruff secured 25th place with a time of 3:56.38 in the finals.
 
From the diving boards, sophomore Fiona Garfield led William Smith with an eighth-place finish on the 3-meter boards. Garfield secured a spot in the finals after finishing eighth in the 11-dive prelims with a program record breaking score of 425.65. She went on to secure a score of 400.95 in the finals to finish eighth overall. Senior Haley Levine also posted a personal best score of 283.90 in the 11-dive 3-meter prelims, finishing 15th overall.

The Hobart and William Smith swimming & diving teams will be back in action on Feb. 27-28 when senior diver Daniel Barrientos and sophomore Fiona Garfield represent HWS at the NCAA Diving Regional Championships.
