8 Statesmen earn All-SUNYAC praise

Hobart lands 5 on all-conference first team

The top-ranked Hobart hockey team put a league-high eight players on the 2026 SUNYAC Men's Hockey All-Conference Teams as announced by the league office today. The Statesmen occupied five of the six spots on the first team.
 
Seniors Tanner Daniels, Kahlil Fontana and Damon Beaver, junior Conor Lally and sophomore Arvega Hovsepyan earned a spot on the first team. This marks the first time a team has placed five players on the All-SUNYAC since 2008-2009, when Plattsburgh had five players earn first team all-conference honors.
 
In addition, junior Bauer Morrissey was voted to the second team and junior Chris Duclair and senior Mavrick Goyer were selected to the third team.
 
Hobart's top line of Daniels, Fontana and Hovsepyan has been one of the top-producing lines in the conference all season. They have combined for 108 points and are a key part of the Statesmen's power-play that is ranked first in the nation in power-play percentage (.350).
 
A captain, Daniels has played in all 26 games this season. He has 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists, ranking third in the SUNYAC in points and fourth in assists. Daniels has scored two goals in a game three times this season. He has five power-play goals and three game-winning goals this season. In 18 conference games, Daniels had 24 points on 12 goals and 12 assists.

Daniels has played in 114 career games, recording 113 points on 47 goals and 66 assists. He is eighth on Hobart's all-time list in points, five behind Bill Tryder '92. Daniels is sixth in assists and tied for second in career games played. The 2025 New England Hockey Conference Player of the Year earned all-conference recognition for the second straight year.
 
Also a captain, Fontana has played in all 26 games. He leads the team and the SUNYAC with 19 goals and is second on the team with 37 assists. Fontana is eighth in the nation in goals per game (0.73) and game-winning goals (4) and 12th in points per game (1.42). He matched a Hobart single-game record, scoring four goals in a win over Skidmore in November. In conference play, he has a team-high 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists.

The 2025 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Fontana, has played in 111 career games. He has 83 points on 40 goals and 43 assists. Fontana is tied for seventh on Hobart's career games played list.
 
A center, Hovsepyan has played every game this season. One of the premier setup men in the country, he leads the Statesmen with 28 assists (tied for fifth on Hobart's single-season list) and 38 points. He is fourth in the nation in assists per game (1.08) and ninth in points per game (1.46). Hovsepyan has produced 12 multi-point games, including a hat trick against Manhattanville. He also had a three-assist game at Fredonia. In SUNYAC games, Hovsepyan has 26 points on four goals and 22 assists.

A transfer from Salve Regina, Hovsepyan has played in 52 career games, recording 74 points on 18 goals and 56 assists. He earned second team All-NEHC and All-Rookie team recognition with the Seahawks last year.
 
Lally, an assistant captain, is the fourth player with 30-plus points for the Statesmen this season. In 26 games, he has 35 points on 12 goals and 23 assists. He is second in the SUNYAC and 14th in the nation in assists per game (0.88) and is 19th in the nation in points per game (1.35). Lally is the top defenseman in the nation in points per game and has 11 multi-point games. He is also a key part of Hobart's top-ranked scoring defense (0.96) and fourth-ranked penalty-killing unit (.907).

A third team All-NEHC selection last year, Lally has played in 85 career games, tallying 71 points on 18 goals and 53 assists.
 
Beaver, one-half of arguably the best goaltender duo in the country, has played in 16 games this season. He is 16-0-0 with a 1.01 GAA, a .949 save percentage and five shutouts. Beaver is first in the nation in winning percentage and save percentage and second in GAA and shutouts. He has made 20-plus saves seven times this season.

The 2025 NEHC Goaltender of the Year, Beaver, earns first team all-league recognition for the second straight year. He has played in 74 career games, posting a 69-4-1 record with a 1.03 GAA, a .955 save percentage and 24 shutouts. Hobart's career record holder for wins and shutouts, he is second all-time in NCAA Division III in shutouts.
 
A defenseman, Morrissey plays alongside Lally on Hobart's top defensive pair. He has played in 26 games this season, registering 20 points on six goals and 14 assists. He had three assists in the home win against Skidmore. Morrissey has 17 blocked shots this season.

Morrissey moves up to the first team after earning third team All-NEHC recognition last year. He has played in 84 games, recording 70 points on 14 goals and 56 assists.
 
A forward, Duclair has recorded 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists. Known for his speed and hard shot, he is a dynamic two-way forward. He has a power-play goal and a short-handed goal this season and has notched at least one point in eight straight games.

Duclair has played in 84 career games, notching 72 points on 38 goals and 34 assists. He was named to the NEHC All-Rookie team as a first-year.
 
The other half of the nation's best goaltending duo, Goyer earns all-conference recognition for the second straight year. He is 9-0-0 this season with a 0.96 GAA, a .942 save percentage and six shutouts. Goyer is first in the nation in winning percentage, GAA and shutouts and second in save percentage. He has recorded five consecutive shutouts, a program record. His six shutouts this season are tied for fourth on Hobart's single-season list.

Goyer is 39-1-1 for his career with a 1.02 GAA, a .945 save percentage and 21 shutouts. He is fifth on Hobart's career wins list and second in shutouts. Goyer is third on the NCAA Division III career shutouts list.
  
Hobart is 26-0-0 this season. The Statesmen have won a program record 32 straight games entering the semifinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament. The Statesmen will take on Cortland on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.
