Barrientos qualifies for 2nd straight NCAA Championship meet

For the second straight season, senior diver Daniel Barrientos will represent the Hobart swimming and diving team on the national stage as he competes at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, March 18-21, at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Additionally, Barrientos was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after a strong performance at the regional championships.
 
Men's 3-meter diving is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, with the preliminary rounds set to begin at 1 p.m., while the finals take place at 6 p.m. The 1-meter diving competition is set for Friday, March 20, with the same start times as Thursday.
 
Over the weekend, Barrientos secured his spot at the national championships after competing against the top 12 divers in the region at RIT's Judson Pool. He is one of four divers that qualified from the Northeast that will compete in the 24-diver field looking to be crowned the nation's top diver.
 
At the NCAA Diving Regional Championships, Barrientos placed fourth from the 3-meter board with a score of 502.25. He then went on to finish eighth from the 1-meter board with a score of 403.05.
 
A Fulshear, Texas, native, Barrientos also had a standout performance at the Liberty League Championships. His record-breaking performance was highlighted by an 11-dive score of 608.25 from the 3-meter board which shattered the Hobart program record, the Ithaca pool record, the Liberty League Championship record and the Association record. Barrientos went on to win his first Liberty League title with a six-dive score of 630.10. On the 1-meter board, he placed third with a score of 512.45 to wrap up the conference championships.
